Before the Saltwater Came Returns!

Hey!  Psst!  Look over to your right.  Now, scroll down a little.  What’s this?

Buy My eBook!Yep!  You got it!  Before the Saltwater Came is now available as an e-book!

Ten years ago this month, Before the Saltwater Came was first released as a hard cover book.  The little book now has a second life as an electronic book, and I’m so excited, I can hardly stand it.  It’s been a long time coming, and thanks to Capt. John Swallow’s tireless efforts, my dream is now a reality.

Even though the hard copy has been out of print for several years, the story is still timely; maybe even more so than when it was first released. With that in mind, I’ve decided in lieu of another traditional printing, this book will soon be available for “print on demand”.  Print on demand was fairly new when I first published the book, and the formats were limited; but POD has come a long way, and I’m moving forward with the times, too.  Finally!  Y’all will be the first to know when Before the Saltwater Came is available for print on demand and where you can purchase it.

Support independent publishing: Buy this book on Lulu.

Meanwhile, it is my hope that this electronic publication will spur a resurgence in the use of this book in wetland education classes and that it will also find its way into homes and libraries everywhere.  In the very near future, I hope to have the companion Guidebook for Educators available in PDF format on my blog for free download. Once it’s ready, anyone who wants to use Before the Saltwater Came for wetland education can download the guidebook for free and use it as often as they like.

Many thanks!!!  Those of you who are on the mailing list are going to receive a discount coupon code in your email as my way of saying thank you for following this blog.

So, if you haven’t signed up for email notifications and would like to buy the book at a discount, please sign up today!   I look forward to your feedback after you’ve read it!

Wish me good fortune!

Onward!

  1. Congrats. However, I won’t be purchasing it since I still have access to 3 autographed copies in hardback. Ya see, all you newcomers…BW met me years ago at Cabella’s early one Sunday to deliver and autograph my purchases. She was making her appearance as the only female Captain in a “Meet The Captains” weekend. BOY, time flies, it doesn’t seem that long ago.

    1. Time does fly!! How long ago was that, Steffi? I remember well how great it was meeting you and what a privilege to get to sign your books for you! Hang on to those old books, because I heard that you might get hundreds of dollars for them on Amazon, LOL!

  2. I loved the book. My grandson figured out how the flatboat (?) and a pet wound up floating in the bayou and won a copy some time ago. I read it to him and the other grand kids and he has kept it for his nephews. For those who haven’t read it, get it and read it to your little ones and not so little ones. They will love it too.

    1. And I remember this well, too, Cammy. I miss the days when we had contests often and Community Coffee was sponsoring us. I got to give away lots of cool stuff back then! So glad you still have the book, and thanks for plugging the e-book!

      1. Reading it is great but, it makes a fantastic show and tell item for the kids to carry to school too. And, it teaches them the truth about our ecological systems. They are never too young to learn. And anyone who gets the e-book can print it out for the kiddos.

        1. You are so right about a hard copy book being great for show and tell. However, I’m not sure if purchasing an e-book permits printing, so I don’t want to encourage anyone to commit infringement, BUT, the book will also very soon be available for print on demand from Lulu.com, at the same price as the original book, around $20. So, I will be putting that link up on the blog soon!!!

    1. Thanks, Kim. My sister had a lot to do with this — been prodding me to get this done for several years; but since I’m so old fashioned, I had to become a reader of e-books before I could switch it over, I guess. It’s such a comforting thought to know that we will never run out of e-copies of the book!!! TEN YEARS!! Can you believe it? This book has a lot do with how we became such good friends, and here we are, 11 years later, and about 1100 miles apart, and still friends!!! Life chains are amazing, aren’t they?

  3. I still have my special autographed copy. It’s exciting to know your book will live on via e-book reading for many more years and many more young readers! Congrats, Cuzzy.
