Well, it looks like the folks from Butte Larose lucked out this time. The news says they are returning home after having evacuated a couple weeks ago ahead of the spillway flooding that was headed their way.
Well, it looks like the folks from Butte Larose lucked out this time. The news says they are returning home after having evacuated a couple weeks ago ahead of the spillway flooding that was headed their way.
While the residents of the Atchafalaya Basin and Morganza Floodway breathe a collective sigh of relief, I do so with them. The Army Corps of Engineers had previously put for the worst case scenarios, and not it appears that the flooding will not be as bad nor as widespread as first anticipated.

I am a great fan of Led Zeppelin and mentioning one of their lesser-known tunes here would be appropriate. “When the Levee Breaks” is the song, and of course, that is what we are hoping does not happen anywhere along the course of the Mississippi River as the crest flows southward.
