7th Annual Grand Isle Ladies' Fishing Rodeo — 11 Comments

  1. I’m glad that y’all had a good time. Too bad y’all didn’t make it on the “boards”.
Hubby and I were down in G.I. the week before the second rodeo. That’s when I first learned about the event. They had handmade signs all along the roadside. Every year since, I say I’m going down to fish, but alas…I haven’t made it yet. I have sent a few donations though. I even have a brand new cap (that I’ll give to you one day). I’d feel like a fraud wearing it since I didn’t fish the rodeo.

    • Hey you! If you supported the effort you are NOT a fraud! You are a supporter of the cause!! Way over half the folks don’t fish the rodeo, and even some of the teams of women who have look-alike t-shirts come for the entire weekend and NEVER WET A LINE! So, no, you are NOT a fraud. Wear your hat and wear it proud!!!

  2. Gee, BW, it looks like no one is interested in fishing for a cause. Maybe you’d better cook up some of those trout or stuff that flounder.
Blu, I’ve added you to my prayers. Best wishes!

    • Hey Mary! Of course, the fishing was great, but to be really honest, if you don’t like being cramped like sardines under a hot pavilion for six hours, you might not care for the awards, raffles, door prizes, costume contest, waiting in line for supper with 300 other people, the band and the dancing. BUT they hand out the fishing awards first, so it’s ok to leave after that and hang out back at your camp/cabin. It’s gotten so big that it’s just way too many people in that venue, but there are plenty of women who enjoy that and party until the very end at 11 p.m. Not this old lady. After getting up so early and fishing hard, I’m pretty wiped out. Truth be told? I was sitting there during the door prizes falling asleep. It was about 7 p.m. by that time. As soon as they did the half and half raffle, we left and I was in bed by 9:30!!! But hey, you can take part in as much or as little as you like, right? We still had a great time. Like I said, it’s always Columbus weekend.
