Third day with snow on the ground . . . .
BUT NO RUNNING WATER.
The water company, Consolidated Waterworks, shut off our water supply yesterday afternoon WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. Is that normal? I mean, really, is it?
I, and thousands of other bayou residents, are livid, and can you blame us?
Had we received an emergency warning, we would have at least made preparations, like bathing and saving the water for commode flushing later or filling the tubs/buckets with potable water for our most pressing needs.
Instead, we had to go out AT DARK to shovel snow into pans and buckets to melt overnight for flushing – NOT to drink.
Good thing Dotter reminded me to buy bottled water days before the Arctic front moved through, or we would have naught to drink right now.
Did I mention I’m livid?
Regardless, here are photos of Snow Day 2 in Dularge, LA which make me a tiny bit happier! The temp yesterday when I ventured out and about on foot was 32 degrees, no north wind, and no snow blowing, so I was only in sweats (no hat, no gloves) AND I worked up a little sweat tromping through almost-knee-deep snow. It was, I must admit, a pretty outstanding experience. I will only share a few of the photos here . . .
Enjoy!

The one time snow is vaguely useful in the Bayou…when there’s no water. Everyone is searching for water to drink, so places that are open and have it will be scarce.
AND…we’re under a “boil water advisory” (also not notified), which is slightly insulting since we have…no water to boil!
Right? They really have had bad management during this severe weather event. Nothing was report in due time at all . . . . our Fire Chief wasn’t even notified that the water was being cut off.
Beautiful! 😥 for your water situation. Come on warm temps!
Hello dear Cuz! Thanks and the temps had zero to do with the company choosing to cut off the water . . . . however, they turned it back on yesterday afternoon, thankfully, and I was able to bathe and wash dishes with very low flow but I’m okay with that for now!
