The warm temps Friday evening were no indication of what was coming. We were screaming for a breeze while standing along Main Street in downtown Houma, with hundreds, maybe thousands of other curious onlookers.
Before you ever step inside the door of her shabby-chic studio-workshop, the name Copperhead Studios conjures up Medusa-like images of the owner and curiosities about what venomous things she houses behind the sliding doors. Rest assured, though, that once you’ve been bitten by this copperhead and her artwork, you’ll definitely be back for more.
Oh, honey, you might never eat a boiled crab again after you sample these finger-licking-good delicacies that come from the brackish waters down the bayou. (Of course, any blue crab will work just as well.)
A line from “Steel Magnolias” went through my head more than once while watching the participants of the Sixth Annual Grand Isle Ladies Fishing Rodeo arrive dockside at Bridgeside Marina Saturday afternoon, “The whole sanctuary looks like it’s been drenched in Pepto-bismol!” Not only is pink the signature color of the main character of said movie, but it’s also the signature color of anything having to do with Breast Cancer Awareness, and believe me, there’s no way anyone could attend this magnificent event and not be aware.
