Happy Thanksgiving – 2012 – and a Photo Giveaway
After five years of writing this blog, I think we’ve formed some friendships and kinships here. For that, I am most grateful on this day. There are, of course, many other things for which I am thankful, as I know are each of you. If there is one thing that stands out to you as 2012 comes to a close, please share that with us in the comments section below. And because Christmas is rapidly approaching, I am going to give away a photo. All you have to do is comment, and there will be a drawing later.
Shrimp Creole – Louisiana Fish Fry Style
But, it’s not what you think. I’m not frying fish. I’m using entree meal packets from Louisiana Fish Fry to see how good they are, and to let you in on how we like them. Lately, BW not only stands for Bayou Woman–it stands for Busy Woman. Some weeks, I’m just either too tired to…
18-Gator Day!
Oh, and did I mention snakes? Today we saw the most snakes out sunning on branches that we’ve ever seen in one trip. Joan, head of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance camp in Houma, LA and her hubby, Jeff, joined Termite and me today for their very own little wetland tour. The trip was a birthday…
Moonset . . .
There’s only one thing I like better than looking out at the bayou first thing each morning . . . looking out at the moon setting over the bayou. Once again, I really need a tripod. I took this with no flash, holding the shutter open as long as I dared, while backed up against…
Hurricane Ike – The Humans
Last Saturday I left the cypress cottage and drove down the bayou to my home to wait for the “flood adjuster”, and he was already there. Not one, Stephanie of Gonzales, but TWO. TWO ADJUSTERS!!! And buddy, they meant business. They were half an hour early and had already gone around the outside of the…
BW Vacations in Playa del Carmen, Quinta Roo, Yucatan, Mexico!
Earlier this year, my oldest son decided to purchase the house which he has rented for the past three years. Because he works 20 days on a tugboat and only home for 10, he needed a little help navigating everything, so of course, I was happy to help him out. After the closing while riding…
You got some great shots Wendy. Eagles are making a great comeback nation wide. We have seen so many in our travels. They are awesome birds we never tire of seeing.
They are really awesome birds. Thought of you day before yesterday, saw 3 osprey on the way back in from fishing.
I would’ve run off the road slamming my brakes seeing one of those magnificent birds!!!!! I know they winter here around Caddo and Lake O The Pines, but have never seen one except when we lived in Alaska…saw them all the time…..and was ALWAYS in awe of their powerful presence and breath taking beauty……You have inspired me to start watching for them locally. May have to run over to the lake today for a peek.
Deb

I still have family up that way, but I don’t get up there nearly as often as I’d like. Always enjoy your comments. That bird was GORGEOUS! Oh, did I mention I saw 3 osprey coming back from fishing Thursday?
