Contest especially for you lurkers out there!

And something for the faithful readers, so you won’t pout!

One day last week, there were 1100 views of this blog.  I cannot imagine that out of 1100 people, only a handful were brave enough to try the last contest or even comment about how difficult it was!  But it’s the truth.

In an effort to pull my behind-the-scenes readers into the front rows, I am posting an easy breezy, and hopefully enjoyable contest.  Besides, Blair, our new rep. at Community Coffee (Scott was promoed up), is anxious to get rolling and give away something really nice.

For a chance to win this snazzy coffee canister . . .

Coffee Freshand a bag of Community Coffee Between Roast (or dark roast if you prefer) please continue and try your luck at this fun little contest.  Here’s what you have to do.

TO LURKERS and NEWCOMERS WHO HAVE NEVER WON A PRIZE HERE BEFORE: In the comment section, please answer the question at the end of this blog post.

To my faithful readers: To win the exact same prize, please type your answer in the contact box at the bottom of the Bayou Woman page.

Veterans, use the Contact Box at the bottom of Bayou Woman Page for your guesses.

You have until Thursday.

    Bayou Wedding

A new post from Yours Truly is long overdue.  Well, that’s a wee bit of a understatement, isn’t it? Hopefully, between knowing we’ve just been through Christmas and New Year’s, you’ll give me a pass when I say I’ve been in the throes of planning a “down-da-bayou-wedding” for my youngest son, whom we lovingly have…

Maybe you’ve had the chance to catch an episode or two of the A & E reality series called “Cajun Justice” since its debut on June 5. Maybe you’ve had the chance to watch the show and just don’t want to admit that you actually sat through a whole thirty-minute episode. Or maybe you fall into the camp that says they have never and will never watch the show. But before you throw the Cajun out with the boiling pot, hear me out.

  • Birds of the Bayou . . .

or the birds whose space we invaded while fishing this recently. This is a dead-end canal, and the amount of birds in this 100-yard stretch is pretty amazing. This isn’t the best photo ever, but it speaks to the beauty and serenity of this little spot.  This great egret watched us from a distance, and flew from…

  • It's been five years already!

It was only five years ago, but it seems like a lifetime. Yep, this blog is now five years old and has gone beyond my wildest dreams, hopes, expectations. Lil Sis is the one who is responsible for getting me started doing this blog in the first place. She had to convince me that it would be good for business and a great way to further educate folks about life down here in the Louisiana wetlands.

  1. Yea, Scott. You know his promo came because all your readers started buying so much more Community Coffee!

Welcome, Blair. We hope you keep up the good work!

    1. Hey Karin! I guarantee you when I post a pic of a Louisiana heron on here, I will DEFINITELY NOT call it a tri-color heron!! You can count on that, honey I’m pretty stubborn about that and people laugh at me because of it.
