PROW Project Days 5 and 6

The third week of the PROW project we began to see the start of nests, done by the male PROWs.  And it also appeared that the females were starting to arrive in the Lake Palourde area.  

There weren’t a lot of new and interesting things to see, but I took some shots with you in mind – things I thought you might like to see along with me.

So, without further ado, I’ll share some photos with you, first from Lake Palourde area.  As always, please click on photos to see full images!

And in the Mandalay Wildlife Refuge, lots of aquatic plants and flowers were emerging, and upon closer inspection, I noticed a few I had not seen before.  After much research, I think I might have all the common names correct.  If not, please let me know!

This vine-like floating plant puzzles me. I did not find it on any aquatic website, at least in any photos that I could place it, so I don’t know what it’s called. I would very much like to know, so if you can figure it out, please educate me!  It’s actually quite attractive looking, or at least I think so!  It’s not water lettuce, because they free-float, not attached to a vine like this one.  Possibly, “floating primrose willow”, but until it sprouts yellow flowers, I’m just not sure of the ID.

And this one below, because even though this is just a very common plant we call “saw grass” due to its sharp edges, I find beauty in the coloration and also the noise they make when the wind blows. 

And lastly, in this photo, I see four different floating plants, do you see them, too?
