Let's Go Pick Two Winners!

The time to pick a winner for the “LIKE Bayou Woman on Facebook” contest has come.  I’ve given everyone about two weeks, which is obviously too long to wait.  Seems some of my readers got tired of waiting.  So I apologize for waiting so long to do this.  But you know how the old saying goes–great things come to those who wait.

As a sidebar, LilSis paid me a visit and we ran the roads and basically had a really good time.  She just left, so now my attention is totally on YOU.

Here’s the process for the random drawing for those of you who don’t know.

I asked those of you who read this blog regularly to hop on over to Facebook and find Bayou Woman and click the “LIKE” button, which many of you did.  Facebook keeps a record of those likes, and it seems there were quite a few of you who participated–64 to be exact. Today, I clicked on “64 Likes” and the LIKES are listed in the order of which folks clicked the LIKE button.

I then copied and pasted that whole list and entered it into a Word document in order, giving each person a number, 1-64, starting with the first person who clicked the LIKE button.  With me?

(I allowed everyone to participate in this one because even distant relatives need a little bayou getaway once in a lifetime!)

The photo below shows that . . . .

Colleen Murphy Lewis was the first person to read this and go over and LIKE the Facebook page.

Likewise . . .

it looks like Joe Peddy was the last one to click LIKE.

I use RANDOM.org, which generates random integers.  I plug in the parameters by telling them to pick a number between 1 and 64, and the computer does the rest.

So, without further adieu, I will hop on over to random.org and let them work their integer magic. Then I’ll be right back here to copy and paste the winner.

moments later . . . .

And the winner is, drum roll please . . . . .

Now, here’s the catch.  I am going right now and take a photo of the winning name and post it below.  BRB.

I’m back.  Okay, now the winner has to see her name listed here (that is NOT a photo of her, so don’t be confused if you happen to know her) and leave a comment confirming she is ready to claim her prize!  A $100 gift certificate good toward a night at Camp Dularge or a Wetland Tour or a Casual Charter.

Congratulations, Susan, otherwise known here as “Deloutre Switch”.  You’ve just won the first ever Facebook LIKE contest presented on the blog.

Now, I will do the same process for those who came from Facebook over to the blog and clicked  “Follow BW by Email Notification” .  The process works the exact same way.  The odds are better here because we only picked up 20 new email subscribers.

And the winner is:

And that would be:

JaxNan.  Congratulations!  I’m not sure right at this moment who that is, but I certainly hope she finds her way here to claim her prize.

Thanks to all of you who bridged the gap from blogging to social networking.  I really do appreciate you stepping out of your comfort zones!

Stay tuned for a fall post about goings on down the bayou!

  1. bummer. saw my face and thought I’d won. if susan fails to confirm, I think you should give it to me since I was obviously next in line.

    1. I hear ya, Brenda! I thought for a second that was a pic of Diane Sawyer! Sorry, but I have a feeling she is going to keep her prize!!! (I panicked for a second and had to go back and make sure it wasn’t your name that was number 5! You were number 4. Would hate to give it to the wrong winner!)

  2. BW,

I feel so sorry for me, I did not win. Congrats to the winner. I have a very good friend that hails from Thibeadeaux (sp) and his family had a camp house very close to your Camp for many years.
Oh well, I can still come fish sometime and spend a day or two. Maybe, you will have the gator-burger recipe up and going by then.

Good luck to you, I really enjoy your site. Keep up your good work.

    Bob

    1. Bob, I feel so sorry for you, too! Hey, maybe YOU should develop the gator burger and cook me one when you come down! I hope to see you soon! Don’t cry too much, though, as I will have another giveaway in a month or so!

    1. Of course, silly! Random Integers dot Org doesn’t joke around! What’s the matter? Have you never won anything before? I’m so laughing at you right now! She’s speechless, folks!

  3. Congrats to the winners! I’m glad it was you, who had to figure out what to do to find the winners. I would have done it OLD SCHOOL…you know …put everyones name in a hat. I’m a visual person. I couldn’t even figure out what you did by reading (twice) what you typed!

    1. Well it was simple but time consuming. It had to be done this way in order to assure that no one was left off the list. Also, neither site would let me just copy and past names, it insisted on copying and pasting gravatars, buttons, the whole bit. I had no choice in the matter. You’re just picking at me because I KNOW you really do understand what I did!! Next time, if I have some help, I will do the old fashioned way. But I would still have to copy and past a long list of names (64?) onto a word doc, leave a big space between each one, print, and then cut into slips. OR cut slips and HAND WRITE every name. Uh, can you say NO WAY? Who writes that much any more!

      1. Oh no, I wasn’t kidding! I would have handwritten everyones name! ALL 64! It would have been quicker!

    1. Billie, I sure wish your phone would have had a better signal so we could have set up a time to visit. I really wanted The Captain to meet you and y’all talk old school stuff. I was impressed, though, that you folks did not let any grass grow underfoot and hit the back roads without hesitation. Thank you for signing the guest book, and I can tell you and Shirley have gotten into mischief everywhere you’ve gone! Can’t wait to hear how she push poled my boat out of the scary cypress swamp . . . . .

  4. Congrats to the winners!! You are going to have a good time I bet. You had 64 names and that is a fairly decent amount. Hope the readership (is that a word?) picks up. I have posted links in my Facebook account and hope some have come over to check this out.

  5. Congrats to the winners! Cool way to increase readers and hopefully gain some new customers for the camp.
