Be back late tonight …
After being under the weather and off my feed for the past three weeks, and doing 3 tours in 2 days, I am finding myself not 100% yet. At the moment, I am chasing my tail getting ready for an new chapter in my life . . . in my professional life. I’ll be back…
Riding in Style!
Fall means fairs. The local fair was this past weekend. I mellowed out a bit and let the boys go it alone the first two nights. I joined them last night for the final night. They had a blast! Especially Miah! Fall also means fishing. Those posts coming soon. BW
Blackberry or Dewberry Cobbler
There’s been a whole lotta picking going on down the bayou at the local berry patch. And the best thing to do with the fresh, dark globes of goodness? Throw them in an old-fashioned cobbler, which is not only a beautiful spring dessert but easy to make. Delicious, old-fashioned dessert made…
Hurricane Ike – My House and Insurance
Day 12 LilSis went back to North Louisiana yesterday. She was the glue that held me together for about a week or so. I really miss her. Thank you, Lil Sis for everything. Those words just don’t begin to express the gratitude I feel. We are going home today, though not to our old home. …
Sweet 16 and Sweet 22 Sunday!
Sounds like a couple of birthdays, does it not? Well, you’re right on one count–the Sweet 16. But first let me tell you about the Sweet 22. As you all know, we had a cold snap with a little ice and snow–unheard of down here in the tropics, especially before the first day of winter…
Green Thumb Envy, Part 2
With the turmoil of Hurricane Isaac behind us and the “Ghost of Isaac” threatening to re-enter the Gulf, let’s ignore all that and once again reap the benefits of a local French-Cajun gentleman’s green thumb. Since we can’t actually stroll through his yard and garden today, let me bring the memory of his spring garden to you.

Wow! Is this a rat snake?
Yes, that would be correct! I think it was thinking about eating some kitten.
…..O….M….G…!!!!!…….T.h.u….d! Don’t care how long I live down here…I never get used to those things…also knowing it’s dead…just seeing termite holding it…my skin is crawling with the shivers…ok..just breathe…

Deb in Tx, with one shakey cup of coffee…shhhezzzzzzzz
Yea, I’m with you, Deb. I hate to kill a non-poisonous snake, but this one startled him and the big yellow dog, and yes he did use his Christmas present on it. Watch out for those copperheads, though.
Hope Termite used his Christmas present on “God’s one mistake”.
Yes, he surely did!
Yikes. I try to maintain an agreement with the snakes around our place: you stay outside of our property lines, and I won’t kill you. Unless you’re a copperhead, and then all bets are off.
Yeah, I just remembered, I can’t come down the bayou… ever… again. *shudder* Where WAS that?! And it’s a king snake, right?
Oh… missed the first comment. Rat snake. I can see it now. I’m going to have to adopt ALL those little kitties!
Please, please please come get the kitties. Better yet, I’ll drop them off with a bag of food, and Muzicman will just think they belong to the big white house next door, where they ALWAYS have cats, right? Hey, that sounds like a good plan!
It’s the water moccasins from the pond across the road that I REALLY hate to find in my yard! Big, black ugly vipers.
You go, Termite!!!!
Cuz, we don’t tolerate water moccasins here AT ALL!
