We recently saw how nicely the bathroom turned out. However, some folks have been wondering what is the point of featuring a window that must be “covered” in order to keep shower water from spraying on it and the surrounding wood trim and also “hidden” behind a shower curtain. Well, I had ideas to help…
Be back late tonight …
After being under the weather and off my feed for the past three weeks, and doing 3 tours in 2 days, I am finding myself not 100% yet. At the moment, I am chasing my tail getting ready for an new chapter in my life . . . in my professional life. I’ll be back…
We need a Wetlands Protection Act!
There I was, sitting in a crowded waiting area, when my eyes fell upon the only magazine I would even care to take off the rack: Cabela’s Outfitter Journal, the October issue. I’d never seen the magazine before, and hey, who knows? I might want to write for them. The wait was long enough that…
Morganza Update
Well, it looks like the folks from Butte Larose lucked out this time. The news says they are returning home after having evacuated a couple weeks ago ahead of the spillway flooding that was headed their way.
I can see clearly now!
From the front porch, I can see “up the bayou” like this. See the “swing” bridge? Look closely! And if I turn and look down the bayou, I can see the highway going south and the bayou going south and the camps across the bayou. Laurel and Hardy, as I lovingly call my carpenters, have…
Shadow Dance
Hello, my name is Bayou Woman, and I am an addict. A swamp addict. I admit it. But for me, it’s not a problem, as long as I get a fix every once in a while. So, on my birthday, without a plan, I rose early, dressed quickly, grabbed my camera bag and hit…

Have to disqualify myself from this one. I’ve got two myself. I hung one on the wall. I’ve also purchased this same item as a wedding gift for several fishermen and women.
Yep, I coulda guesses that! I haven’t used this one yet, so tell me, does the cornbread come out looking like fish?
That is a cast-iron cornbread pan, to make fishy cornbread! So kitschy! And so southern! I love it!
Isn’t it just the cutest thing? My friend from Mississippi came down last week and gave it to me as a “camp warming” gift!
BW your readers are just too smart to pull one over on!
By the way, thanks for letting me stay at Camp Dularge this weekend. I enjoyed the visit and the fun! You’ll soon be booked up with fisher men and women! What fun!
P.S. You might want to post a pic of that huge ‘gator we saw on our adventures for everyone to see.
You are very welcome! It was great having you! I thought the pics would go along with the “joint” sister post we’re supposed to write???
BW, the fish do come out shaped like a fish. Don’t expect to see all the details though. Just make sure to “season” that cast iron GOOD, even if it’s already pre-seasoned. When you fill the fish be careful not to over fill them. It’s much easier to remove the baked fish.
I love cast iron pans… anyone seen a pumpkin one?
