Sight Towers and Speckled Trout
Strange title but hopefully just strange enough to lure you into reading this little fishing report from last Friday. Since late October, the trout have been elusive in Lake Decade, and while everyone I talk to has their own theory as to why, none of us really knows why for sure. Somehow, though, since Thanksgiving,…
The eagles have landed!
As evidenced by Diane’s blog photos and mine below. Did you know that American bald eagles fly south to inhabit their six-foot wide nests in the fall of the year? They spruce up their nests, typically the ones they used the year before, breed, lay their eggs, hatch them, teach them to fly and then…
Memories, Mulberries, and More
Memories There are just so many things going on right now that I want to tell you about, none of which warrants an entire blog post of its own though. Not only that, but everything is just so beautiful, bountiful, lush and green right now that I have way too many photos to share, and it…
Shall we build a house?
Well, shall we? Back in 2004 I started researching building a metal building to live in. I know it sounds more than strange– it sounds weird and commercial. And that is exactly what every building contractor I contacted told me: We don’t do residential metal buildings. My online research led me to a couple of…
Louisiana Culinary Trails – Bayou Bounty
The weather has been so unpredictable that I haven’t been able to do tours or fishing trips. Wind and rain. More rain and more wind. No great new photos to share with you. Spring-time Wetland Education
With all the new folks following the blog, I think it might be time for a little recap of Wetland Education 101. My involvement in wetland education began long before it culminated in writing a children’s picture book about coastal Louisiana’s wetland loss, acquiring my U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license, and starting educational wetland…

Looks a lot better than the take out Chinese I had. Plus I bet it warmed up your kitchen, which mine could have used!
Oh yea, Cuz, it was delicious and the kitchen was cozy and warm. The oven is the only heat we have on that side of the house, anyway!
And a lot better than the frozen pizza I had while shuttling ice chips and Sprite to RenRed.
Well, nurse HH, I hope he’s on the mend today. That virus stuff gets old real quick!
And we had lemon icebox pie for dessert !
Oh now, you really outdid me there! Was it really lemon “ice box”? Oh my goodness. And you didn’t save me a piece?
If I made a lemon icebox pie no one but me would’ve gotten any. I only make them about 4 times a year just for that reason. I can eat the whole thing!
Looks great!!! Which wine did you chose?
Now, MD, you know I don’t drink wine. But I’d be glad for you to recommend one!
