Resurrected from September 2007 . . .
There are very few things I am as passionate about as the Louisiana wetlands. Below is a shorter version of an article written a mere 2 years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans and outlying areas, and Hurricane Rita flooded my home and many coastal communities. Maybe you will learn a little more about the…
Grilled Stuffed Duck Breasts
Last year my sons and I experimented with grilling duck breasts, and we met some challenges along the way. However, this year, I’ve got it all figured out and this recipe has passed the Bayou Woman Kitchen taste test.
Guess who's coming to town Friday?
So the industrious, ever-resourceful BW heard about a casting call a week ago from Capt. Swallow, and her wheels started spinning. She went online and found out that the same casting crew would be coming to a nearby town, and she knew exactly who this crew needed to meet.
Camp Dularge goes artsy fartsy!
What do the once dull, panel-covered now revealed and gorgeous beadboard walls of Camp Dularge need to enhance their beauty? How about some original artwork? My friend and fabulous artist, Ellen, was very open to the idea of displaying some of her original artwork and prints on the walls of the camp. Because her pulp…
The "Cypress Swamp" bedroom is finished.
And I am so proud and happy! Please, come on in and take a look. Do you remember what this room looked like before we removed the brown paneling? And then do you recall what it looked like after we removed the brown paneling? Right! We uncovered Pepto-Pink cypress beadboard walls. Oh, and let’s not…
It's been a long time coming . . .
Background: “It ain’t much, but it’s ours,” aptly applies to our family home of the past 13 years. The story of how we came to rest on Bayou Dularge from Bayou Grand Caillou by way of Bayou Black, is a long one that won’t be told here. Home is where the heart is, and for…

Great pictures!! I love the picture of Miah relaxing in the swing.
Fall, Fairs…fun times… kids all ages!
I’ve never seen a kid so completely relaxed on a moving ride as Miah! He has some serious coolness goin’ on
Tilt-a-Whirl! I love the tilt-a-whirl, and it looks like the boys did, too!
looks like they had a blast!
Hey, I’m sending your information to a friend who has moved to Louisiana. She homeschools and I think your tours, etc would fit well into her curriculum, Wendy.
Oh, that sounds great Sue!!! I’d be glad to help in any way I can! Thanks! ( Did you know I homeschooled all my kids?)
I did not know that. I’ll pass that tidbit on too. I hope she decides to make the trip to your place. How cool would that be, to have a Joe’s Run girl meet my blog friend Wendy!
Gee, no warning???
I am getting really old but looking at carnival rides or hearing music still makes me very dizzy and ill.
Still thinking of being a carney when I grow up though.
Cooking trout this week.
Trout yum. Termite looked around at the “Carnies” hawking their games and said, “Wow, this must be a really depressing lifestyle. 🙁 “
I too love the Swing photo. Did he pose for you or is that his “style” of relaxing on this ride?
It was so cute!! Every time he came around to me, he was in a different pose!! There were four altogether I believe! He’s a real camera ham!
Love fairs. Popcorn, cotton candy, sausage on a stick, etc. and lots of lbs.
It has been years since I went to one. Can’t take that walking any more.
Looks like Miah was in his element! Bet he had a blast.
Wow our fair is in August and in Oklahoma that means it’s 104 degrees and 210 humidity, lol. The state fair was last week and it was beautiful weather. Looks like the boys had a blast.
Cuuute! The last two years when I’ve gone with him, the Tilt-a-Whirl is the only one I ride! (Always been my favorite carnival ride… I remember riding it with YOU! At Hamel’s Park, maybe?) Anyway, Miah and I can get that thing spinning something fierce! Love it. 🙂
You should have posted the other swing poses! *lol*
Now, I’m off to find your house post to see if I can find the pictures of your kitchen counters. I’ve been meaning to ask you who did them because I want new ones. Email me!
