Another Perspective by Elizabeth Wellborn
Dear Readers: Below is a blog post from the founder of For the Bayou, a non-profit organization based in California. Elizabeth is native of south Louisiana, and has deep roots here. At a time when I am almost at a loss for words and fatigued from worry, I would like to let her speak. It is lengthy, but please take time to read the whole thing to better understand what we face here. BW
Concrete under new house!
I have been super busy with back to back 2 tours a day!
Grasshumpers!
Ok, make sure that you are sitting there when the children read the name of this photo–that’s what PG stands for, right? Parental Guidance? Then you can explain what hump means and all that rest of the birds and the bees stuff. Good luck with that. Lucky for you, your children have more fun things…
Bayou Blooms
Well, lots of folks from Denham Springs westward to Crowley are now getting down to the nitty gritty of dealing with the flooding aftermath. I don’t envy those unfortunate souls one bit. As I said, been there, done that, and hope not to do it again anytime soon. I know that sounds selfish, but this…
Rachel’s Christmas Banana Pudding!
Hello my dear friends! It’s almost the end of the year and I’m ending it with a blog post of the best new version of an old standard: Banana Pudding. However, this time, the recipe is not mine, it’s one Dotter threw together for our family gathering this past Saturday, and it was an absolute…
BW at a loss for words?
Last month was a December for the record books — rainiest ever. The past three days and the weekend to come might be record-breaking cold days. And neither of those facts has contributed positively to the lifestyle of BW. Therefore, BW has almost nothing to write about and finds herself at such a loss that…
Great pictures!! I love the picture of Miah relaxing in the swing.
Fall, Fairs…fun times… kids all ages!
I’ve never seen a kid so completely relaxed on a moving ride as Miah! He has some serious coolness goin’ on
Tilt-a-Whirl! I love the tilt-a-whirl, and it looks like the boys did, too!
looks like they had a blast!
Hey, I’m sending your information to a friend who has moved to Louisiana. She homeschools and I think your tours, etc would fit well into her curriculum, Wendy.
Oh, that sounds great Sue!!! I’d be glad to help in any way I can! Thanks! ( Did you know I homeschooled all my kids?)
I did not know that. I’ll pass that tidbit on too. I hope she decides to make the trip to your place. How cool would that be, to have a Joe’s Run girl meet my blog friend Wendy!
Gee, no warning???
I am getting really old but looking at carnival rides or hearing music still makes me very dizzy and ill.
Still thinking of being a carney when I grow up though.
Cooking trout this week.
Trout yum. Termite looked around at the “Carnies” hawking their games and said, “Wow, this must be a really depressing lifestyle. 🙁 “
I too love the Swing photo. Did he pose for you or is that his “style” of relaxing on this ride?
It was so cute!! Every time he came around to me, he was in a different pose!! There were four altogether I believe! He’s a real camera ham!
Love fairs. Popcorn, cotton candy, sausage on a stick, etc. and lots of lbs.
It has been years since I went to one. Can’t take that walking any more.
Looks like Miah was in his element! Bet he had a blast.
Wow our fair is in August and in Oklahoma that means it’s 104 degrees and 210 humidity, lol. The state fair was last week and it was beautiful weather. Looks like the boys had a blast.
Cuuute! The last two years when I’ve gone with him, the Tilt-a-Whirl is the only one I ride! (Always been my favorite carnival ride… I remember riding it with YOU! At Hamel’s Park, maybe?) Anyway, Miah and I can get that thing spinning something fierce! Love it. 🙂
You should have posted the other swing poses! *lol*
Now, I’m off to find your house post to see if I can find the pictures of your kitchen counters. I’ve been meaning to ask you who did them because I want new ones. Email me!
