Wetland Photography Tour Challenge
This is Beverly looking down at some of her recent photos. The youngest-oldest of the two-day groups, at 82, she is spry as a spring chicken and a major inspiration to me. So, tell me, folks . . . what is the difference in these two photos? My entire purpose in posting these together and…
Scarlet tanager and indigo bunting
Are there any birders out there? One of the many great things about living down the bayou is the fact that we are part of the Mississippi Flyway for the neo-tropical birds. I will be the first to admit what a bad case of spring fever I have this year. I have a restlessness that…
Bream, by any other name, would still taste the same!
Whether you call them bream, bluegill, sunfish, or patassa (pah-tah-sah) these hand-sized gifts from the freshwater pond would be well served upon any plate.
It's Contest Prize-Drawing Time!
Back in September, I wrote a post about this blog being five years old and asked you to share your stories with us. You did so in great fashion, and I thoroughly enjoyed each one of them. The comments seemed to have stopped now, so it’s time for me to keep my end of the bargain and do the drawing.
The Red Fish
The Red Fish is the last in a series called South Louisiana Creatures of the Estuary. The previous creatures posted in this series are The Blue Crab, The Oyster, and The Shrimp.

Great pictures!! I love the picture of Miah relaxing in the swing.
Fall, Fairs…fun times… kids all ages!
I’ve never seen a kid so completely relaxed on a moving ride as Miah! He has some serious coolness goin’ on
Tilt-a-Whirl! I love the tilt-a-whirl, and it looks like the boys did, too!
looks like they had a blast!
Hey, I’m sending your information to a friend who has moved to Louisiana. She homeschools and I think your tours, etc would fit well into her curriculum, Wendy.
Oh, that sounds great Sue!!! I’d be glad to help in any way I can! Thanks! ( Did you know I homeschooled all my kids?)
I did not know that. I’ll pass that tidbit on too. I hope she decides to make the trip to your place. How cool would that be, to have a Joe’s Run girl meet my blog friend Wendy!
Gee, no warning???
I am getting really old but looking at carnival rides or hearing music still makes me very dizzy and ill.
Still thinking of being a carney when I grow up though.
Cooking trout this week.
Trout yum. Termite looked around at the “Carnies” hawking their games and said, “Wow, this must be a really depressing lifestyle. 🙁 “
I too love the Swing photo. Did he pose for you or is that his “style” of relaxing on this ride?
It was so cute!! Every time he came around to me, he was in a different pose!! There were four altogether I believe! He’s a real camera ham!
Love fairs. Popcorn, cotton candy, sausage on a stick, etc. and lots of lbs.
It has been years since I went to one. Can’t take that walking any more.
Looks like Miah was in his element! Bet he had a blast.
Wow our fair is in August and in Oklahoma that means it’s 104 degrees and 210 humidity, lol. The state fair was last week and it was beautiful weather. Looks like the boys had a blast.
Cuuute! The last two years when I’ve gone with him, the Tilt-a-Whirl is the only one I ride! (Always been my favorite carnival ride… I remember riding it with YOU! At Hamel’s Park, maybe?) Anyway, Miah and I can get that thing spinning something fierce! Love it. 🙂
You should have posted the other swing poses! *lol*
Now, I’m off to find your house post to see if I can find the pictures of your kitchen counters. I’ve been meaning to ask you who did them because I want new ones. Email me!
