Duck Season: Preparations
I’m sorry I have been MIA, but there are lots of things to do in order to prepare for a duck hunt. And of course, all these things could have been done within the last six months. For some reason, my sons procrastinate as long as they can, and since both of my adult sons…
My first figs!
These must be “early figs”, because in the past, I’ve picked figs in July at my friend’s house. This is my first very own fig tree, and I am so excited about it’s fruit! Two days ago, there were none ripe. Today, while I was working on the curtains, I looked out the bedroom window…
PROW Project Days 5 and 6
The third week of the PROW project we began to see the start of nests, done by the male PROWs. And it also appeared that the females were starting to arrive in the Lake Palourde area. There weren’t a lot of new and interesting things to see, but I took some shots with you in…
Social Distancing
What weird times we find ourselves in. It is surreal to me. That’s the best word I can think of to describe this state in which we find ourselves, which makes me think I’m in the pages of a dystopian novel. Is that how you feel? So I guess I am now confessing to the…
A very fishy story continued . . .
This trip was with Diane Huhn, Volunteer Coordinator for Bayou Grace, and their hurricane recovery efforts on the five bayous. Diane is an avid freshwater fisherman from Michigan, and I feel fortunate to have made her acquaintance and now call her friend. Armed with artificial lures only–no shrimp, no crabs–we headed out one morning at…
25 what? And where?
BW goes fishing . . . . again!

Great pictures!! I love the picture of Miah relaxing in the swing.
Fall, Fairs…fun times… kids all ages!
I’ve never seen a kid so completely relaxed on a moving ride as Miah! He has some serious coolness goin’ on
Tilt-a-Whirl! I love the tilt-a-whirl, and it looks like the boys did, too!
looks like they had a blast!
Hey, I’m sending your information to a friend who has moved to Louisiana. She homeschools and I think your tours, etc would fit well into her curriculum, Wendy.
Oh, that sounds great Sue!!! I’d be glad to help in any way I can! Thanks! ( Did you know I homeschooled all my kids?)
I did not know that. I’ll pass that tidbit on too. I hope she decides to make the trip to your place. How cool would that be, to have a Joe’s Run girl meet my blog friend Wendy!
Gee, no warning???
I am getting really old but looking at carnival rides or hearing music still makes me very dizzy and ill.
Still thinking of being a carney when I grow up though.
Cooking trout this week.
Trout yum. Termite looked around at the “Carnies” hawking their games and said, “Wow, this must be a really depressing lifestyle. 🙁 “
I too love the Swing photo. Did he pose for you or is that his “style” of relaxing on this ride?
It was so cute!! Every time he came around to me, he was in a different pose!! There were four altogether I believe! He’s a real camera ham!
Love fairs. Popcorn, cotton candy, sausage on a stick, etc. and lots of lbs.
It has been years since I went to one. Can’t take that walking any more.
Looks like Miah was in his element! Bet he had a blast.
Wow our fair is in August and in Oklahoma that means it’s 104 degrees and 210 humidity, lol. The state fair was last week and it was beautiful weather. Looks like the boys had a blast.
Cuuute! The last two years when I’ve gone with him, the Tilt-a-Whirl is the only one I ride! (Always been my favorite carnival ride… I remember riding it with YOU! At Hamel’s Park, maybe?) Anyway, Miah and I can get that thing spinning something fierce! Love it. 🙂
You should have posted the other swing poses! *lol*
Now, I’m off to find your house post to see if I can find the pictures of your kitchen counters. I’ve been meaning to ask you who did them because I want new ones. Email me!
