What's in your closet? Hmmmmm?
Okay, I’m not talking about skeletons! I’m talking about memories. I’m talking about items with sentimental value. If they are in your closet, take them out and find new and inventive ways to display them in your home. And this post is going to help you with that creativity! It just has a twist. I…
Gulf Spill Update
Bayou Woman implores you to realize that the repercussions of the oilspill are not over just because the news networks have pulled out.
Hunting and Fishing in Maurepas Swamp: The Sportsman’s Perspective
Idling slowly among the cypress knees in a shallow-draft boat, one can only imagine what the Maurepas Swamp would have looked like 100 years ago—before the Great Flood of 1927, before the leveeing of the Mississippi River, and before the virgin cypress were cut down and hauled out to be milled for house and boat…
LOWA 70th Annual Conference – Lake Verret Birds
As I said in the previous post, “to be continued“, and now I’m keeping my promise. Plus, those of you who have been here awhile know that I’m a bird nerd and no trip is complete without a post about the birds I saw. That Friday morning fishing trip started out with a beautiful sunrise,…
First Bayou Woman Adventure Short Film
To usher in Regular Time, I have a little surprise for you! It’s a short film of the first ever Bayou Woman Adventure we had back in June. Carolyn Scofield, field news reporter for WVUE FOX 8 News in New Orleans came along with us, shot some footage, and put together this show. Kudos to her and all the ladies who went crabbing two ways and earned their right to call themselves Bayou Women.
Beignets and Irish Cream!
Just when I was getting over glutting myself on King Cake, reader Foamheart sent me an email including photos of his Mardi Gras morning beignets. Now, I have to say, the photos made my mouth water, and I forgot all about King Cake. Give me a nice golden, crispy-on-the-outside and chewy-on-the-inside authentic beignet over King…

Great pictures!! I love the picture of Miah relaxing in the swing.
Fall, Fairs…fun times… kids all ages!
I’ve never seen a kid so completely relaxed on a moving ride as Miah! He has some serious coolness goin’ on
Tilt-a-Whirl! I love the tilt-a-whirl, and it looks like the boys did, too!
looks like they had a blast!
Hey, I’m sending your information to a friend who has moved to Louisiana. She homeschools and I think your tours, etc would fit well into her curriculum, Wendy.
Oh, that sounds great Sue!!! I’d be glad to help in any way I can! Thanks! ( Did you know I homeschooled all my kids?)
I did not know that. I’ll pass that tidbit on too. I hope she decides to make the trip to your place. How cool would that be, to have a Joe’s Run girl meet my blog friend Wendy!
Gee, no warning???
I am getting really old but looking at carnival rides or hearing music still makes me very dizzy and ill.
Still thinking of being a carney when I grow up though.
Cooking trout this week.
Trout yum. Termite looked around at the “Carnies” hawking their games and said, “Wow, this must be a really depressing lifestyle. 🙁 “
I too love the Swing photo. Did he pose for you or is that his “style” of relaxing on this ride?
It was so cute!! Every time he came around to me, he was in a different pose!! There were four altogether I believe! He’s a real camera ham!
Love fairs. Popcorn, cotton candy, sausage on a stick, etc. and lots of lbs.
It has been years since I went to one. Can’t take that walking any more.
Looks like Miah was in his element! Bet he had a blast.
Wow our fair is in August and in Oklahoma that means it’s 104 degrees and 210 humidity, lol. The state fair was last week and it was beautiful weather. Looks like the boys had a blast.
Cuuute! The last two years when I’ve gone with him, the Tilt-a-Whirl is the only one I ride! (Always been my favorite carnival ride… I remember riding it with YOU! At Hamel’s Park, maybe?) Anyway, Miah and I can get that thing spinning something fierce! Love it. 🙂
You should have posted the other swing poses! *lol*
Now, I’m off to find your house post to see if I can find the pictures of your kitchen counters. I’ve been meaning to ask you who did them because I want new ones. Email me!
